Before Indonesian Diaspora Network Establish

17 Century

The first diaspora of Indonesian in Australian is through the Maccasan Trade Route from Macknight (1976) initially placed the origins of the Macassan trepang industry between 1650 and 1750 AD. This is the first initial contact between Indonesian dan Australian Aboriginals. 

Los Angeles, 2012 "Deklarasi Diaspora"

06 July 2012

The first Congress initiated by the Indonesian Ambassador to the US Dino Patti Djalal was held on July 6-8, 2012 in Los Angeles, USA. More than 2000 Indonesian Diaspora met in a special forum to discuss various topics related to diaspora. The congress gave birth to the "Declaration of Indonesian Diaspora" which includes the vision and future of the Indonesian Diaspora.

18 Augustus 2013

The next congress was then held in Jakarta on 18-20 August 2013 with the theme “Going Home. The congress which was attended by 2500 participants was opened by the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. In the closing session, BJ Habibie was awarded the "Lifetime Achievement" for his dedication as the most inspiring and outstanding Indonesian Diaspora.

"Diaspora Bhakti Bangsa"

Meanwhile, CID-3 was held on 12-13 August 2015 with the theme "Diaspora Bhakti Bangsa". A number of topics were discussed in CID-3, including Indonesia’s Tourism, Liveable Cities, Dual Citizenship, Diaspora Cards and Ex-WNI Visas, as well as the protection of Indonesian migrant workers.

The fourth Indonesian Diaspora Network (IDN) Global Congress lasts for 4 (four) days, from 1-4 July 2017. The stage of activities on the first day of the Indonesian Diaspora Convention is held at The Kasablanka Hall, Kota Kasablanka Mall and is open to the public. . This event presented the Kenote Speech of the 44th US President Barack Obama, followed by 12 issues related to diaspora by presenting 42 diaspora speakers. This was followed by the second day of the Internal Meeting, namely the 2015-2017 IDN Global job evaluation meeting and the 2017-2019 IDN Global Presidential election. The third day continued with sectoral dialogue, namely a meeting between the Indonesian diaspora and the government. Among them was the IDN Global Executive Committee meeting with President Joko Widodo at the Merdeka Palace. The series of congress activities closed with side events such as reviewing the MRT project and a culinary party in Bogor, West Java.

Establishment of The Indonesian Diaspora Network (IDN) in Australia 

6 July 2014 

The Indonesian Diaspora Network (IDN) in Australia itself was officially established on 6 July 2014 which was endorsed by the Indonesian Embassy to Australia. The aim is to harness the strength of the Indonesian diaspora in Australia, as part of a wider Global IDN. All states and territories in Australia have created an IDN-Chapter, including: NSW, QLD, SA, WA, VIC and TAS; and Regions: ACT and NT.
